Standing like a Tree

In this exercise, which is taken from Still Qigong, you imagine being a strong tree solidly rooting in the ground.

Your total awareness is centered in your lower abdomen to develope an inner calm and a good sense of equilibrium.

This exercise, which is very old, is also known as "Stand like a fir tree". While standing you imagine one of the big fir-trees of the Huangshan-Mountains. The positions are easy to learn and very effective as for good posture, inner calm and more concentration.

This is, as the chinese say, a peculiar kind of sport: You exercise while resting and you rest while exercising.
